Your Excellency the Executive Secretary of Mr. Dr. Zacarias da Costa
and other participants, Ladies and Gentlemen
The g7+ group was officially granted the Associate Observer Status by the Community of Portuguese Language Speaking Countries (CPLP) on July 17, 2021 in Luanda, Angola.
The Portuguese language is officially spoken in nine countries, four continents, and is the fifth most used in the internet space”, the CPLP and g7+ have three member states in common, Timor Leste, São Tomé and Principe ana d Guinee Bissau. The CPLP is therefore a very important step towards the global recognition of the Portuguese language.
The g7+ also recalls that Portuguese is the official language of 260 million people, and one of the most spoken languages in the southern hemisphere. It is also predicted that the Portuguese language will have “strong growth”, and that by the “end of the century, about 500 million people will be speaking it, making it an “increasingly global language”. It is also safe to say that the language will be used for diplomatic, in several forums, including the UN.
I have the honor to inform you that the g7+ has designated Mr. Helder da Costa, General Secretary of the g7+ as the representative of g7+ to the Portuguese Language Countries (CPLP) and therefore ask your consent for his accreditation. I’m confident that he will fulfil in a most satisfactory manner all the duties and responsibilities he is entrusted with to the benefit of the flourishing partnership between g7+ Secretariat and CPLP.
I hereby wish you to give credence to all that Mr. Helder da Costa communicates to you on behalf of the g7+ and render him full support necessary to perform his duties
On behalf of the g7+ family, let me once again express our gratitude for all the support of Your Excellency. We remain at your disposal for any further information.
Please accept, Your Excellency, the assurances of my highest consideration.
