Ministers and Focal Points of g7+ countries are preparing to travel to Port-au-Prince in Haiti for the Second g7+ Ministerial Retreat to be held on the 13th and 14th of November. The First Ministerial Retreat was held in October last year in Juba, South Sudan. The upcoming meeting will be an opportunity for the group to review a very busy and productive year and plan for the ongoing work of the g7+. Achievements of the group since the Ministerial Retreat in Juba include the presentation and endorsement of the ‘New Deal for Engagement in Fragile States’ at the Fourth High Level Forum on Aid Effectiveness in November 2011, gaining a private audience with outgoing President Zoellick of the World Bank in April 2012 and incoming President Kim in October 2012, embarking on New Deal implementation at the country level with Fragility Assessments conducted in 5 pilot countries, and holding a hugely successful High-level Side Event at the United Nations General Assembly in New York in September 2012. Prime Minister of Timor-Leste, His Excellency Xanana Gusmao and Prime Minister of Haiti His Excellency Laurent Salvador Lamothe at the g7+ High-level Side Event in September 2012 The Second g7+ Ministerial Retreat is hosted by the Governments of the Haiti and Timor-Leste.
