Washington, DC. 08 October 2016: The g7+ Ministers and Senior Officials met the World Bank Group (WBG) senior Management team during the WB/IMF annual meeting in Washington on Saturday, 8th October 2016.
During the side event, The g7+ Eminent Person also announced Timor-Leste support 1.5 Million to Central African Republic to the resetlement of 2400 IDPs people at the Mpoko International Airport in Bangui, CAR.
The event is also used to officially launch the g7+ Foundation. It is established to support the group’s collective pursuit of peace and development by researching and documenting practical measures that have been proven to work to reverse fragility
As part of g7+ Fragile-to-Fragile cooperation, this mission is to follow and evaluate the present situation after Bangui Forum in 2015. This mission particularly focused on facilitating and supporting the success of the Disarmament, Demobilization, Rehabilitation and Repatriation (DDRR) process in Central African Republic.
The two days meeting agreed on a set of measurable SDG indicators to be implemented at the country level, in addition, g7+ focal point also mapped out strength of each country can contribute to our Fragile-to-Fragile Cooperation and at the same time g7+ Secretariat launched g7+ Oral History.
The g7+ group met with Dr. Jim Yong Kim, the World Bank Group (WBG) President, and his senior management on Saturday, 16 April 2016 during the WB/IMF Spring Meetings 2016. The meeting, which takes place twice a year (at the spring and Annual Meetings) between the g7+ group and the WBG senior management, provides a regular opportunity for both sides to discuss how better to address the challenge of fragility.
Issues discussed in the meeting included IDA 18 replenishment, implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and support for the private sector.
The Fourth g7+ Ministerial Meeting was held on 23 - 24 March at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Kabul, Afghanistan. The meeting was hosted jointly by the Ministry of finance and Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Islamic Republic of Afghanistan.
